Advent Calenders!

As its getting close to the 25 day countdown to Christmas, I thought I would write a post on my advent calendars. This year I may have got slightly over excited by not buying one, not buying two, but buying three advent calendars. Oh deary me..

Description: "It's the gift that gets sweeter every day! Our advent calender is filled with 24 mini beauty treasures. Open the sweet shop doors to reveal Benefit bestseller or surprise gift. It's never been more fun to countdown to gorgeous."

The first calender I bought was the Benefit candy-coated countdown. The candy shop theme is so cute and I am really having to restrain myself from peaking in the first door. I think it's currently sold out online, but you may find it in some stores and I've also seen a few giveaways.

Description: "Each window hides a scrummy european-inspired chocolate for you to enjoy, from nutty pralines to velvety truffles, all smothered in Thorntons delicious milk, dark and white chocolate. There's even an extra surprise on the big day but you'll have to wait patiently to discover what it is."

My second purchase was the Thorntons Continental Advent Calender. This just looked so fancy and everybody needs more chocolate in their lives. Also the surprise on the last day intrigued me way too much, so if that floats your boat here's the link:

Thorntons Advent Calender: £10.00

Description: "Every day you can discover a festively fragranced tea light behind each door. Will it be the new crisp winter forest scent of Icicles, the freshly-cut Christmas Garland or heavenly sweet Angel's Wings? Be delighted as you find the sweet aromas of Snowflake CookieCranberry Ice and Christmas Cookie."

This third calender is actually the family Advent Calender, but as I have recently done a review on the Snowflake Cookie Candle this excited me extremely! Having a daily tealight to make the living room smell like Christmas makes me overly happy!

Yankee Candle Advent Calendar: £21.99

Snowflake Cookie Yankee Candle Review

I have never wanted to eat cookies more in my life.

Now I'm very new to the whole Yankee candle trend and this is my first purchase from them. As I am slightly Christmas obsessed, what better way to get in the spirit than buying a Christmas candle. So I decided on the scent 'Snowflake Cookie' because it just looked so pretty and I couldn't stop myself. I waited impatiently for it to arrive and it didn't let me down.

Before I lit the candle I couldn't believe how much it smelt of real cookies (I think I sat for about five minutes sniffing the unlit candle). When I finally got round to lighting it, the smell I got was fresh baking and sweet icing sugar. I thought it was going to be extremely strong, it was actually quite subtle (Although I did stay in my room the whole time and probably adjusted to the smell).

Overall I had a great first experience with this Yankee candle and will hopefully be purchasing more soon!

'Snowflake Cookie' prices range from £1.12 to £14.99 Link (get quick while there's a deal on)

5 Perfume Favourites!

Description: This perfume is described as fresh, feminine and sweet and I couldn't agree more. If floral was a smell I actually believe it would smell like this. It's definitely my go to at the moment and look how pretty the bottle is! The smell does seem to fade a bit, but a re-appliance every few hours can solve this.
Longevity: 7/10
Price: £44.50 (30ml)

Description: This is also one of my favourites and definitely the strongest, long-lasting fragrance. It is described as fresh and captivating with soft femininity and sensuality. Although that's a lot of words for a smell, I think I agree. This is my go to on a evening or night out because it sticks with you wherever you go. As for the bottle, I think it's pretty simple and not too exciting, but who cares because it smells great!
Longevity: 9/10
Price: £46.50 (30ml)

Description: This perfume is described as floral, fresh and fruity which once again I completely agree with! This is the sweetest smell I own and is a perfect Christmas gift with such a minimal price. This is a great fragrance to carry in your bag and spray every now and again to freshen up. The bottle is a pretty pink and for the price it looks very elegant and cute.
Longevity: 4/10
Price: £5.99

Description: This perfume from Avon is a very feminine, fruity fragrance. It has a slight citrus smell to it and comes in such a pretty bottle. I think this is an excellent value for money as it's moderately long lasting and strong. It's a very summery fragrance and is great for a day to day, signature smell.
Longevity: 8/10
Price: £13.00 (50ml)

Description: For me, Vera Wang 'Princess' is a downright classic! It has such a sweet, fruity smell and I don't think you can go wrong with it. The bottle is girly, elegant and shaped like a heart. My only issue with this perfume is that I just wished it lasted a little bit longer. (But hey ho, there's a reason it's almost empty).
Longevity: 7/10
Price: £39.50 (30ml)

I seem to be forever on the lookout for a new perfume that's sweet and stays the long length of a day! If anybody has any recommendations please let me know!

Bluesky Autumn Nails

Now I know it seems strange to be blogging about autumn nails when it is soon to be winter, but because bluesky gel lasts up to 2 weeks I had to impatiently wait. (Also my blog wasn't up and running back then!). Anyway, about a month and a bit ago I found out that bluesky had come up with an autumn range, so I had to check out some of the colours.

The first colour I chose was Autumn sand which isn't my usual colour nail polish. (I'm more of a 'go hard or go home' neon nails kind of girl). But I thought I would have a change and choose a colour I assosiate more with the autumn season. It took two coats of the polish to get the full effect, but if you just wanted a subtle brown shimmer you could just leave it at one coat. The colour definetly grew on me and shimmers when light hits it. Although I still wouldn't put it up there with the favourites, it is definetly a pretty shade.

The second colour was Midnight swim similar to Midnight from the Autumn range and this was definetly my favourite of the two. The colour came out darker than I expected, but I actually ended up loving it. This is a colour you could wear with one thick coat but I did two to cover any sparse areas. The dark blue is a great shade for anyone who doesn't like nail polish too fluorescent, but it was a really nice change for me.

I've also seen that bluesky have released a limited edition Christmas range, which I'm sure I will be ordering and reviewing soon enough.
